Two distinct sheets of watercolour on paper are brought together to form a single composition. Created in 1979, this work is by German artist Hans-Jürgen Karius (b. 1947), who studied at the Kölner Werkschulen before completing his studies as a Meisterschüler at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. A painter and draughtsman, Karius drew inspiration from nature and the landscape, reducing familiar impressions to delicate abstract compositions.
