A single sliver of white cuts through the darkness, like a door left ever so slightly open. Framed by warm ochres and the rich texture of a lithograph on paper, the composition reveals just enough to keep you looking.

Created in 1980, the edition reflects the restrained abstract language of Venetian artist Giuseppe "Bepi" Santomaso. Born in 1907, he became one of Italy's leading post-war abstract painters, exhibiting regularly at the Venice Biennale and earning solo exhibitions at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona.

Signed and numbered by the artist.
