About Togo
It is said that Togo, the cushy, crimped, ground-hugging sofa series, was inspired by French designer Michel Ducaroy’s crushed aluminum toothpaste tube, spotted one morning in the 1960s. Debuting at Paris’s Salon des Arts Ménagers in 1973, the sculptural foam form — wrapped in quilted upholstery and stitched into rhythmic folds — was initially met with skepticism before becoming a defining icon of 1970s design. Today, its playful silhouette and unmatched comfort remain as relevant as ever.
