The Smiling by Tal R., is a large-scale silkscreen on mirror that turns the room into part of the artwork, because why let the walls have all the fun? Born Tal Rosenzweig, the Danish artist is known for his “kolbojnik” approach, a Hebrew term meaning “leftovers,” pulling from Fauvism, Symbolism, Art Nouveau, outsider art, mythology, photographs, and whatever else he feels like throwing into the pot.

This piece has all the Tal R signatures: punchy colour, bold geometry, faces that hover between figure and pattern, and a composition that feels like a very stylish party got trapped inside a mirror. His work has been exhibited internationally and appears in major collections including the Art Institute of Chicago, Moderna Museet, Saatchi Gallery, the Essl Museum, and the Rema Hort Mann Foundation.

Signed, editioned (8/12) and dated by artist.
