This piece is a first-half 20th-century oil on canvas by German artist Marie Preussner, using a classic still-life arrangement to play with texture, reflection, and the soft weight of fabric. Preussner was a Berlin-based portrait and still-life painter who studied at the VdBK School of Drawing and Painting and was a longtime member of the VdBK, the oldest existing association of women artists in Germany.
