Robert Loughlin (1949-2011) was an elusive street artist and part of the 1980s New York graffiti scene which included Basquiat, Haring and Scharf. Loughlin often used discarded objects and furniture sourced from flea markets as his canvases. First known as a collector and dealer in rare 20th-Century furnishings, he later pursued his artistic side and became known for his graffiti scrawls of a square-jawed man known as ‘The Brute’ around NYC. This particular piece portrays The Brute on a discarded Coors beer carton. Presented in a simple white gallery frame.
