In 1983, Ettore Sottsass made a series of vases named for rivers – a clear reference to water – vertically stacking bizarre forms shaped in white porcelain, with a single touch of colour. The form of the traditional ceramic vase is broken down and reassembled with interlocking parts, in an unstable balance. The effect is paradoxical and dynamic.
Designed in 1983.
