Ceiling Lamp N°5 by Valerie Objects is part of a collection of straightforward pendant lamps created by design agency Muller Van Severen. The lamp collection was born out of a wish to make people look at the architecture, walls and ceilings of their homes with new eyes – with these cleverly designed luminaires drawing their gaze. The catch of this lamp collection is in their linear shapes – as if someone had sketched them out in a single stroke of crayon. The image the designers wanted to evoke was a naive sketch given material form.

The lamp is made of steel, thus unbendable. These frivolous lamps are available in the meticulously selected playful colours that is so typical to the oeuvre of Muller Van Severen. ‘We want to make people look at the architecture of the home again, at the walls and the ceiling’, Hannes Van Severen explains. These lamps lead the eye’. That’s what design should do: tie the room together to create one story: the tale of the owner.
