Suvretta Bookcase by Ettore Sottsass

A bookcase in wood covered in decorative laminate, designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1981, Suvretta has unconventional shelves, because the angles of all the rows are different.

“Suvretta” is a word in Roman meaning: “above the forest.” Like stacked rows of trees, the books placed on the green shelves of Suvretta take on a vertical and diagonal rhythm. The three divider elements of the vibrant green shelves of Suvretta alternate sloping and vertical postures, generating a simple, dynamic composition emphasized by the “Bacterio” texture (also designed by Sottsass).
