Nerocactus by Drocco / Mello
Standing as tall as a human, Gufram's CACTUS®, initially conceived as a whimsical coat rack, has become a globally recognized emblem of Italian radical design. Born from the inventive minds of Guido Drocco and Franco Mello in 1972, this design masterpiece has revolutionized domestic landscapes and creative interiors alike. Handcrafted from flexible polyurethane and featuring four cantilever arms and 2165 nodes, each CACTUS® boasts a unique finish painted with Gufram's signature Guflac® paint. NEROCACTUS, created in 2010, captures our attention thanks to its enigmatic and bold tone.
The CACTUS® has earned its place in design history, making appearances in prestigious institutions such as the Triennale in Milan, the National Art Museum of China in Beijing, and the Barbican in London. It's even part of the permanent collection at the Smithsonian Design Museum in New York.
