This painting is an ode to Cubism, a movement that’s been around since the early 1900s and can often feel exhausted. That idea was what pushed artist Lucas Biagini to see if he could bring something new to it. For this piece, he started by attaching wire to the panel, almost like building a skeleton. That structure sets the composition in place, and then the paint skins are applied on top. Because the form is locked by the wire, the only real space to shift and experiment is through colour. The artist's way of pushing Cubism forward with his own process.
